Elements of Art
(The Building Blocks of Visual Art)
at least 2 elements are utilized in a piece of art, but not all are necessary.
Line: can be straight or curved, it is a path of a point moving through space. 



  Shape/ Form: a shape is a 2 dimensional object.  While a form has depth, width and length making it appear 3 dimensional.
                            

Value: refers to an artwork's lightness or darkness, and is perceived in terms of varying contrast.

                                    

Colour: Colours all come from the three primaries and black and white. They have three properties – hue, value, and intensity.
                                                            
Space: Space refers to the area in which art is organized. Perspective is representing a volume of space or a 3-dimensional object on a flat surface.
                                           
Texture: Texture refers to the tactile qualities of a surface (actual) or to the visual representation of such surface qualities (implied).
